It can be, when it's set up and used properly. With Chambre you're the controller and Chambre is your processor under a data processing addendum; visitors are told they're talking to an AI, and audio isn't kept unless you turn recording on.
Who's responsible
When the agent talks with visitors on your website, you decide why and how their data is used, so you are the controller. Chambre processes it on your behalf as your processor, under the Data Processing Addendum that forms part of our Terms. For data about you and your team as customers, Chambre (Forebrains Ltd) is the controller, as set out in our Privacy Policy.
What you need to have in place
- A lawful basis for handling visitors' details, such as legitimate interests or consent.
- A privacy notice on your website that covers the agent, including what it collects and where leads go (for example your CRM).
- Consent where the law requires it, for example for call recording or analytics cookies.
- A retention period that suits you, and a way to handle access and deletion requests.
How Chambre handles the data
- Visitors are told they're talking to an AI system.
- Audio isn't kept after a conversation unless you turn recording on. Transcripts are kept for the retention period you set (12 months by default).
- Your content and your visitors' conversations are never used to train AI models offered to other customers.
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, isolated per customer in the database, and the agent only loads on the websites you allow.
- Sub-processors (such as hosting, database, voice and payments) are listed in our policy, and we tell customers before adding one that processes their visitors' data.
- Where providers process data outside the UK and EEA, transfers rely on adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or EU Standard Contractual Clauses. EU data residency is available on Fleet (Enterprise).
